Gitzo Mountaineer Series 1 Tripod Kit with Ball Head

The Mountaineer kit is the full-height alternative to a Traveler: the legs do not fold back around the head, so the package is longer at 65 cm closed, but the tripod stands taller and steadier for it. GT1542 carbon legs and a GH1382QD centre ball head reach 171 cm together at 1.78 kg.

Rated safety payload is 14 kg. Four G-lock Ultra sections drop the camera to 26 cm at minimum height with the rapid column removed, and the leg angle selectors set three positions per leg for uneven ground. The head locks ball friction and panning independently.
