ESE ES452U SMPTE/EBU Reader/Window Dubber

The ES-452U is a video character inserter, the box that puts a time code window on a picture. It reads an external source of SMPTE/EBU time code and superimposes eight digits of time (hours, minutes, seconds, frames) and eight user-bit digits onto video looped through the unit, the standard way to make window-dubbed review copies.

On-screen menus set the display size, position, and mask mode (black background on or off, transparent or solid), and the readout can show time and user bits side by side or stacked, or either one alone. Character and background brightness are set from the front panel. The unit reads bidirectionally from 1/20 to 10x play speed, depending on the player. An optional RS-232 interface with Windows control panel software allows remote control of the display modes. It runs on 117 VAC 50/60 Hz standard, with 220 VAC available as an option.
