dbx 231s Dual 31-Band Constant Q Graphic Equalizer
The 231s is the two-channel 31-band graphic in the dbx s-series, the rack unit most often found between a console output and a system processor when a room needs tuning. Constant Q filters keep each band's bandwidth the same whether you are cutting 2 dB or 12, so a narrow ring can be pulled out without dragging the neighbouring bands with it.
A front panel switch sets the range to plus or minus 6 dB for fine room work or plus or minus 12 dB when a filter has to do real work, and a 50 Hz 12 dB/octave high-pass removes stage rumble before it reaches the amplifiers. Each channel bypasses from the front panel. Inputs and outputs are on both 1/4 inch TRS and XLR with pin 2 hot, handling more than +21 dBu. The chassis is 2U at 19 x 6 x 3.5 inches, 6.2 lbs, on a universal 100 - 240 VAC supply.
