Softron MovieRecorder Express 4 Ingest Software

MovieRecorder Express 4 is the simplified edition of Softron's macOS ingest software. It does the core job of the full application, recording a live feed to disk while the file is already usable, and drops the features a broadcast facility needs but a single-room operation does not. That keeps both the price and the setup time down for a fixed recording position that always does the same thing.

The differences are worth knowing before you choose. Express records ProRes and H.264 only, and only into a QuickTime wrapper; the full MovieRecorder adds AVC-Intra, DV/DVCPRO, DNxHD, IMX, and XDCAM plus MXF Op1a. Express records to a single destination, takes audio only from the video device itself, and does not do closed captioning, metadata, effects and overlays, saved configurations, RS422 deck control and batch capture, or slave-mode redundancy. If a workflow needs any of those, the full MovieRecorder license is the right SKU.
