Softron MovieRecorder 4 Multichannel Ingest Software
MovieRecorder 4 is Softron's multichannel ingest application for macOS. It records SD, HD, and 4K feeds while the growing files are already editable, which is the point of it: an editor can start cutting a match or a session before the record button has been pressed a second time. The number of simultaneous channels is set by the capture hardware and the Mac behind it rather than by an artificial license ceiling, so a MacBook Pro with one input and a Mac Pro with a high-density card run the same software.
This SKU is the version with Closed Captioning and Pro Codecs folded into the standard license. Recording targets include Apple ProRes, H.264, AVC-Intra, DV/DVCPRO, DNxHD, and IMX/XDCAM, wrapped as MXF Op1a or QuickTime, with CEA-608 and CEA-708 caption tracks and metadata written as a sidecar or embedded in the QuickTime file. Sources can be SDI capture devices or NDI. Audio can come from outside the video device, including Mac audio and Dante, and each channel can carry rotation, cropping, scaling, timecode, text, and graphic overlays. RS422 VTR control and batch capture are supported, as is a slave mode for redundant recording, and full configurations can be saved and restored.
