Shure MX391 C

The MX391/C is a low-profile Microflex boundary microphone that sits flat on a conference table, lectern, or altar and picks up talkers across the surface in front of it. This cardioid version has a 130-degree pickup angle, focusing on the presenters ahead of the mic while rejecting sound from the sides and rear to cut room noise and feedback in sound-reinforcement and recording setups. Its unobtrusive black housing disappears against a dark tabletop.

An attached 12-foot cable ends in a 4-pin mini connector that plugs into the separate in-line preamplifier, which delivers a balanced signal on a standard 3-pin XLR. The microphone runs on 11 to 52 Vdc phantom power. Because it is part of the Microflex boundary family, the cartridge is interchangeable, so the same base and preamp can be fitted with supercardioid or omnidirectional elements as the application demands.
