Sennheiser MD 441-U Dynamic Microphone
The MD 441-U is the microphone many engineers reach for when they want a dynamic that behaves like a condenser. Its super-cardioid pattern is close to textbook, giving deep off-axis rejection that tames monitors, room ambience, and bleed from nearby sources, and its linear response tracks a voice or instrument with a detail and top end most dynamics cannot reach. Decades on, it is still cited as one of the most accurate and versatile dynamic microphones made.
Two switches let you tailor the sound at the capsule: a five-position low-frequency roll-off to dial out proximity buildup or rumble, and a two-position brilliance switch that lifts the treble for extra presence. A humbucking coil suppresses hum from cabling and grounding, spring-mounted capsule suspension holds down handling noise, and an integral pop filter guards against plosives. Output is on a standard 3-pin XLR.
