Sennheiser MD 21-U Dynamic Microphone
The MD 21-U is a rugged omnidirectional dynamic microphone that has been a broadcast standard for reporters and interviewers for decades. Its omni pattern picks up evenly in every direction, so an interviewer can hold it between two people or swing it from question to answer without a level drop, and it stays natural even when the subject moves off the front of the mic. The all-metal body shrugs off the abuse of field work.
This is a working tool built for speech in the wind and the noise of a live scene. The capsule is very insensitive to pop, wind, and handling noise, so voices stay clean without a windscreen fight, and the uniform frequency response keeps both talk and music broadcasts sounding balanced. It needs no phantom power, feeds a 3-pin XLR output, and includes an integral thread for mounting on a stand.
