Sennheiser MD 421-II Dynamic Microphone
The Sennheiser MD 421-II is a large-diaphragm dynamic cardioid microphone and one of the most recognizable studio and broadcast mics ever made. Its full-bodied cardioid response and robust handling of high sound pressure make it a first-call choice for toms and other drums, brass, guitar cabinets, group vocals, and broadcast announcers. The dynamic moving-coil element needs no phantom power and shrugs off loud, transient-heavy sources without strain.
The distinctive five-position bass roll-off switch on the body lets you tailor the low end from full and warm to tight and controlled, so the same mic works up close on a kick drum or at a distance on an announcer. The pronounced directivity rejects off-axis spill and helps control feedback on a live stage. Output is on a standard XLR-3 connector.
