Sennheiser MD 42 Dynamic Microphone
The Sennheiser MD 42 is an omnidirectional dynamic microphone built for the rough handling of field reporting and broadcast interviews. The omnidirectional pattern captures speech clearly without the reporter having to aim the head precisely at a subject, which makes fast run-and-gun interviews far more forgiving. A two-ply sound inlet basket shields the capsule from wind and pop noise, and the rubber-mounted capsule keeps handling rumble low as the mic is passed around.
Built into a rugged metal housing, it survives the knocks of ENG work and connects through a standard 3-pin XLR to any mixer or camera preamp. Its dynamic capsule needs no power, delivering 2 mV/Pa sensitivity into a 350 ohm nominal impedance across a 40 to 18,000 Hz range.
