sE Electronics BL8 Half-Cardioid Boundary Microphone
The BL8 puts a hand-crafted small-diaphragm true condenser capsule into a flat boundary housing, so it reads the surface it sits on instead of fighting it. Two versions share the same body: the half-cardioid BL8 for stage lips, altars and lecterns where you want rejection behind the plate, and the BL8 omni for conference tables and room capture. Both handle up to 163 dB SPL with the pad engaged, which is well past what a boundary mic normally sees.
Switchable 10 and 20 dB attenuation and an 80 or 160 Hz low-cut sit on the plate itself, so you can tune out floor rumble and HVAC without reaching for the console. The mic runs on standard 48 V phantom through a 3-pin male XLR and draws 5.0 mA. A pouch is included.
