Avantone Pro BV-1 mkII Variable-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone
The BV-1 mkII is Avantone's flagship valve condenser, built on a custom dual-sided 34 mm edge-terminated capsule with a 6 micron gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragm and a selected low-noise Russian 6072A tube. Pattern is continuously variable from figure-8 through cardioid to omni rather than stepped, so the amount of room in the sound is a fine adjustment made at the power supply.
The body carries an 80 Hz high-pass at 6 dB/octave and a -10 dB pad, taking maximum SPL from 134 dB to 144 dB. Noise sits under 18 dB A-weighted and the transformer-isolated output is under 200 ohms. The microphone connects to its 90 - 220 VAC supply through a 7-pin male XLR on a German-made Sommer cable, and the package includes the power supply, shockmount, pop filter, padded wooden mic box, and road case.
