Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor
The Yamaha HS5 is a two-way, bi-amplified nearfield monitor with a 5-inch cone woofer and a 1-inch dome tweeter, driven by a 45W low-frequency and 25W high-frequency amplifier for 70W total. It carries forward the white-cone, flat-response voicing that made Yamaha's NS-10 a mixing-room standard: the goal is an accurate, uncolored picture of a mix rather than a flattering one, so decisions made on the HS5 translate to other systems.
Rear ROOM CONTROL and HIGH TRIM switches tune the response to a desk or a corner, and both XLR and TRS phone inputs accept balanced or unbalanced sources. The cabinet uses a large rear-firing bass-reflex port with a mitered internal design to cut port noise. It is offered in black or white, and the install (I) versions add mounting points on four surfaces for fixed installations.
