The STR-AZ7000ES is the top of Sony's ES line, with thirteen amplified channels for layouts up to 9.2.4 and support for DTS:X Pro in addition to Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Speaker Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X. Four 8K-capable HDMI inputs and two outputs pass 8K and 4K/120 with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, and IMAX Enhanced certification is included. 360 Spatial Sound Mapping maps phantom speakers around the room.

Speaker impedance is 4 to 16 ohms. Digital Cinema Auto Calibration IX with Speaker Relocation, a Zone 2 fed from variable speaker outputs, line or HDMI, and one IR input with two outputs cover installation needs. Hi-res decoding runs to DSD, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF, with HDMI LPCM to 192 kHz/24-bit 7.1. The 430 x 194 x 440 mm chassis weighs 21.8 kg and draws 540 W.
