OConnor Ultimate 1040 Fluid Head Package

The Ultimate 1040 puts the mechanism from the 2575 and 2560 into a head small enough to live on a lightweight tripod. It carries 52 lb (23.5 kg) at a 4 in centre of gravity, 45 lb (20.4 kg) at 5 in, 40 lb at 6 in and 32 lb at 8 in, through a plus or minus 90 degree tilt range. What matters more than the number is the low end: the sinusoidal counterbalance runs down to zero, so a stripped body balances as truly as a built-out one, and the drag feel does not change with the load.

Housing is magnesium and aluminium alloy with stainless and carbon fiber finishing. The package ships with the Large Euro quick release and camera plate (1030-268), the 1030-246 pan handle for the 1030 range with the 2575-135 extension, the 08365 100mm ball base and the S2052-1100 100mm tiedown. The base is interchangeable to Mitchell, 150mm, Quickfix and pedestal mounts. Head weight is 10.6 lb (4.8 kg) including quick release, plate and tiedown, excluding the pan bar.
