Gitzo G1586B3 Snow Shoes, Set of 3

A tripod foot is small, and on snow or soft sand that small area is a problem: the leg sinks slowly through the shot and the frame drifts. Snow shoes spread the load across a wide disc so the legs stop where you set them, and they work the same way over a mesh grating or a walkway where a narrow foot would drop through a hole.

They are made for Gitzo aluminium and carbon tripods whose feet are not threaded, so they cover the legs that cannot take a screw-in spike or big foot. Three to a set, 0.3 kg total, which is little enough to leave in the bag for the location where you find out you needed them.
