Gitzo Series 4 Carbon Fiber Monopod

Series 4 is the monopod for the heavy end of the lens rack. Tubes step 25.3 to 37 mm in Carbon eXact, the 4-section GM4542 weighs 0.68 kg and reaches 159 cm, and the rated safety payload is 35 kg. The extra tube diameter over Series 2 is what keeps a 500 mm lens from wandering when you pan.

G-lock twist collars seal each joint, and a 50 mm rubber foot on a pivoting ball joint keeps the contact patch flat while the tube leans. The head interface is a 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch screw. Section count is the choice to make: 3 sections is the stiffest, 6 sections packs shortest, and the 5-section GM4552L runs longer for tall operators.
