DPA Microphones DPA 2017 Shotgun Microphone
The 2017 is DPA's shotgun for boom operators who work close to the subject and need the rejection without the coloration. Its interference tube is shorter than most competing shotguns, so it fits inside smaller blimps and stays manageable on a pole all day, and the uniform 360 degree grid means the tone does not shift if the mic rotates on its mount.
Self-noise sits at typically 13 dB(A) while the capsule still handles 148 dB SPL peak, giving a 130 dB dynamic range that covers a whispered line and a rifle shot on the same take. It runs on 48V phantom, draws 1.8 mA, and terminates in a standard XLR-3M, so it drops straight into a location bag or a stage rack.
