DPA Microphones DPA 5100 Mobile Surround Microphone
The 5100 packs a complete 5.1 array into a single 240 mm body: five directional capsules on separation baffles, plus a derived LFE channel, all leaving on one multipin cable. It removes the part of surround recording that usually goes wrong - the rigging - so a crew can capture an ambience bed from a handheld or a short boom and move on.
The capsules are arranged so that the left, centre and right channels cover 200 Hz to 16 kHz and the surround pair covers 100 Hz to 12 kHz, with the LFE output limited to 20 - 120 Hz. It runs on ordinary 48 V phantom power and drives 100 m of cable. Outdoors, the OC5100 cover and WJ5100 fur are the intended wind protection.
