DPA Microphones DPA 2015 Wide Cardioid Microphone

The 2015 is the wide cardioid in DPA's 2000 series, a 94 mm pencil condenser that sits between an omni and a standard cardioid. That pattern is the useful one for drum overheads, choir spans and acoustic room work, where a tight cardioid narrows the image and an omni brings in too much of the room. Off-axis response stays smooth, so sources moving across the front of the capsule do not change colour as they go.

Self-noise is typically 18 dB(A) and the capsule handles 153 dB SPL peak, giving 132 dB of dynamic range from a body small enough to hide in a tight overhead position. Impedance balancing with Active Drive keeps the output stable over 100 m of cable, and it runs on 48V phantom at 0.7 mA through an XLR-3M connector.
