Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD
The Blackmagic Streaming Encoder HD is a hardware H.264 encoder that turns an SDI or HDMI feed into a live stream without a computer in the path. You point it at a platform, set a bitrate, and it runs, which removes the usual failure mode of a laptop doing encoding duty in the middle of a show.
Both an SDI and an HDMI input are provided with loop through, and the unit handles SD and HD formats up to 1080p60. Streaming is over Ethernet, and the front panel shows status and data rate so an operator can confirm the stream is live at a glance. It is built into the same compact chassis as the rest of the Blackmagic streaming range and mounts in a rack with the optional shelf.
