Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter
The Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter is the camera-end half of Blackmagic's SMPTE fiber system, mounting to an URSA Broadcast or URSA Mini Pro to carry the camera feed, return video, talkback and power down a single hybrid fiber cable. Paired with a Studio Fiber Converter at the other end, it extends and powers the camera from as far as 2 km away over industry-standard SMPTE 311M cable with SMPTE 304 connectors, so a camera can sit far out on a field or stadium run with only one lightweight cable back to the truck.
The camera signal goes out on 12G-SDI, and the unit brings back a 12G-SDI camera return plus three 3G-SDI return outputs for program, teleprompter and other feeds. Two 5-pin XLR headset connections give the operator talkback with a three-way audio mixer per output, and a tracker output is provided for tally and control. All of the operating power arrives over the SMPTE fiber cable from the Studio Fiber Converter, so no local supply is needed at the camera. It carries part number BMD-CINEURSANWFRCAM.
