Tascam TM-80 Studio Condenser Microphone
The TM-80 is the microphone to reach for when a home or project room needs a real condenser rather than a USB compromise. Its capsule assembly carries an 18 mm pure aluminium diaphragm in a cardioid pattern, so a vocal sits forward and the room behind the singer stays where it belongs. Frequency response runs 20 Hz to 20 kHz and the internal circuitry is tuned to hold noise and distortion down, which is what keeps an acoustic guitar or a spoken track sounding full instead of thin.
Maximum SPL is 136 dB at 1 kHz, so a guitar cabinet or a snare will not fold the capsule over. It runs on 9 to 48 V phantom, presents a 200 ohm output, and the die cast zinc housing gives it enough mass to sit still. Everything needed to record on day one is in the box: a shock mount holder to keep bass rumble out, a small desktop stand and a 6 ft XLR cable.
