Sony PVML-HSX1 HDR-SDR Conversion License
The PVML-HSX1 is a permanent software license that switches on Sony's HDR-SDR conversion inside the PVM-X3200, PVM-X2400 and PVM-X1800 TRIMASTER picture monitors. On a live show that is shooting HDR but delivering an SDR program, it lets the monitor itself do the look management: color space is converted from ITU-R BT.2020 to ITU-R BT.709, and the transfer function from S-Log3, HLG (ITU-R BT.2100) or SMPTE ST 2084 down to SDR EOTF 2.4, so a shader can judge the SDR picture on the same screen that is carrying the HDR feed.
The license also opens up 4K to HD down-conversion and sends the converted, LUT-processed picture back out of the monitor's Enhanced Monitor Output over 12G-SDI or 3G-SDI, even when the original 4K source arrived as quad-link 3G-SDI. That means one monitor can feed a downstream HD recorder or a director's screen without a separate converter box in the rack. Activation is done from the USB port on the monitor's front control unit, and Sony makes the fully featured license available as a trial for up to 240 hours of monitor run time before you buy.
