Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone
The MKE 600 is a shotgun microphone built for run-and-gun video work, mounting to a camera hot shoe or boom pole to capture dialogue and ambience with far more directional control than a camera's built-in mic. Its supercardioid/lobar pattern reaches out to the subject while rejecting off-axis noise from the sides and rear, which makes it a reliable choice for interviews, documentary shoots, and vlogging where the camera can't always get close to the source. A 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency response keeps dialogue clear while still capturing enough low end for natural ambience.
Unlike many camera-top shotguns that require phantom power from a mixer or recorder, the MKE 600 runs on either standard P48 phantom power or a single AA battery (rated for roughly 150 hours), so it works directly with cameras and recorders that supply plug-in power or none at all. Onboard switches add a low-cut filter to tame handling and wind rumble and a sensitivity boost for quieter sources, giving a run-and-gun shooter control without digging into camera menus. It ships with a foam windscreen and mounts via a shock-absorbing mic clip, connecting over a standard 3-pin XLR.
