Sennheiser e609 Silver Microphone

The e609 Silver is a dynamic supercardioid instrument microphone with a flat, low-profile body made to be draped right over a guitar cabinet and set face-on, inches from the grille. That close placement and the tight supercardioid pattern let it grab the cone's attack and body while shrugging off the rest of a loud stage, so a cranked amp stays defined in the mix.

It handles very high sound pressure levels without complaint, which makes it equally at home on brass and percussion. The dynamic capsule needs no phantom power and feeds a standard 3-pin XLR output; frequency response runs 40 to 15,000 Hz.
