OConnor Ultimate 1040 Fluid Head and 30L Tripod System

This is the complete 1040 package: the Ultimate 1040 fluid head, the 30L two-stage carbon fiber tripod, a spreader and a soft carrying case. The head carries 0 to 45 lb (0 to 20 kg) at a 5 in (125 mm) centre of gravity and tilts plus or minus 90 degrees, with OConnor's sinusoidal counterbalance holding true balance at every point in that range, not just at the middle. Counterbalance runs down to zero, which is what makes the same head usable under a stripped mirrorless body and a built-out cine camera on the same day.

The 30L is twist resistant and quick to set, with a visible clamp lockdown so an assistant can see at a glance that the legs are locked. Both spreader options are in the package list below: the floor spreader version gives you the widest stable footprint on a stage, and the mid-level version, which also ships with rubber feet, is faster to level on stairs or rough ground. The head arrives fitted with the Large Euro touch-and-go quick release, a 12 in pan handle with a 30 degree bend and an 11.5 in extension.
