Neumann KK 204 Cardioid Capsule Head for Sennheiser Wireless

The KK 204 is the cardioid head in Neumann's pair for Sennheiser's current handheld transmitters. It threads onto SKM 2000, SKM 6000, and SKM 9000 bodies as well as evolution wireless G4 300 and 500 series and EW-D transmitters, so one capsule inventory covers a rig that mixes analog and digital wireless. The condenser capsule is the reason to fit it: a dynamic head is the default on most stages, and swapping to this one is what makes a wireless vocal channel sound like a studio microphone.

The cardioid pattern is the more forgiving of the pair, holding tone across a wider working angle for a performer who moves on the grille or hands the microphone around. Response runs from 40 Hz, sensitivity is 2.8 mV/Pa into a 1 kohm load, and the head takes 150 dB SPL at 0.5 percent distortion. Fitted to an SKM 2000 the finished microphone measures 272 mm and weighs about 500 g with transmitter and power supply. Nickel and black are the same capsule.
