Neumann KK 105 U Universal Supercardioid Capsule Head
The KK 105 U is the supercardioid half of Neumann's universal capsule-head pair, made for handheld transmitters from Shure, Sony, Mipro, and Lectrosonics rather than Sennheiser. Its tighter pattern buys back gain before feedback on a loud stage, which is the reason most touring vocal channels choose supercardioid over the cardioid KK 104 U. The capsule is a true condenser, so the wireless channel keeps a studio microphone's detail instead of the rolled top of a dynamic.
Compatibility covers Shure Axient Digital, ULX-D, QLX-D, and SLX-D, all Sony models, the Mipro ACT series, and Lectrosonics transmitters. Response starts at 40 Hz, sensitivity is 4 mV/Pa into a 50 kohm load, and the head handles 152 dB SPL before 0.5 percent distortion, so a singer working the grille closely still has headroom. At 183 g the head keeps the finished transmitter balanced in the hand. Nickel and black are the same capsule.
