Neumann KK 105 S Supercardioid Capsule Head for Sennheiser SKM 5000/5200

The KK 105 S is the supercardioid member of Neumann's capsule-head range for Sennheiser SKM 5000 and SKM 5200 handheld transmitters. Its tighter pattern rejects more of what arrives from the sides and rear than the cardioid KK 104 S, which is what you want when the monitor wedges are close and the vocal channel has to be pushed. The capsule is a true condenser, so the wireless channel keeps the clarity a Neumann studio microphone would give rather than the softened top end of a dynamic stage mic.

Headroom is generous at 150 dB SPL for 0.5 percent distortion, and response is held down to 80 Hz to keep handling noise and stage rumble out of the mix. The HD version is the same capsule and the same transmitter thread with an integrated foam screen for heavier pop protection, useful for close-worked vocals and hand-held speech. All four options are the same electrical part, so a production can mix nickel and black bodies on one system without changing the sound.
