Heil Sound PR 48 Kick Drum Microphone
The PR 48 is Heil's kick microphone and its response curve says so: 30 Hz at the bottom, rolled off at 8.5 kHz at the top, with the low and subsonic region lifted and the beater attack left intact. That shaping is why a PR 48 track usually needs less corrective EQ than a general-purpose dynamic pushed into the same job.
It handles 148 dB, which covers anything a kick pedal or a bass cabinet can produce, and the cardioid pattern with -40 dB rear rejection keeps the rest of the kit out of the port. Impedance is 250 ohms balanced, output level -59 dB at 1 kHz on a 3-pin XLR. The body threads for a standard boom, and at 20.33 oz it is heavy enough that a short stand inside the drum stays put.
