Gitzo G1173/14B Quick Release Standard Plate, A Profile

This is the small A profile plate, and it is here for one reason: certain Gitzo heads take nothing else. The off-centre ball head GH2750QR is the common case, and a head with a missing plate is a head you cannot use, so a spare in the case is cheap insurance.

It stays bolted to the camera base and drops into the head's clamp, which keeps the mounting screw off the body's tripod thread between shoots. At 58 grams it is the lightest plate Gitzo lists, which is the point on a compact body where the plate should not be a noticeable part of the weight.
