Gitzo GC5160F Safari Tripod Leg Warmer, Series 2-5

Wildlife and birding work asks two things of a leg sleeve at once: keep the tube off a cold shoulder through a long sit, and stop a black carbon leg reading as a hard vertical line against the scrub. The Safari warmer does both, with a four-colour camouflage nylon shell over removable closed-cell foam padding.

The nylon is chosen for scratch resistance, which matters when the tripod is being dragged into a hide rather than set down on a floor, and the inner face is non-slip rubber so the sleeve stays put on the tube. It is cut for Series 2 through 5 legs, which covers the sizes long glass actually sits on, and the padding lifts out for cleaning after a wet morning.
