Fostex TH-900mk2 LE Closed-Back Dynamic Headphones with Urushi Lacquer

The TH-900mk2 LE is the limited-edition finish of Fostex's closed-back flagship. The transducer is a 50 mm neodymium unit with a bio-dynamic diaphragm, a bio-cellulose fibre film that is stiff for its mass, and it presents an easy 25 ohm load at 100 dB/mW. Quoted bandwidth runs from 5 Hz to 45 kHz with a 1,800 mW input ceiling.

The housings are lacquered by hand in the Japanese urushi tradition rather than painted, which is what separates this edition from the standard TH-900mk2. Each cup takes its own 3.5 mm 2-pole plug from a 2 m cable of 7N-grade high-purity OFC that terminates in a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo plug. The headphone weighs about 390 g without the cable and ships with a leather-like pouch.
