ESE ES956A SMPTE/EBU Reader
The ES-956A is a large-format timecode reader that puts SMPTE or EBU time up on eight 2.3-inch amber LED digits, sized to be read clearly from across a room at up to about seventy feet. It reads both the time and the user bits carried alongside it, and tracks code bi-directionally at multiple speeds, from a thirtieth of play speed up to thirty times play speed, so it stays locked whether a machine is jogging a single frame or spinning at high shuttle.
Error bypass keeps the readout steady through code dropouts, a drop-frame indicator shows the mode in play, and a Hold control freezes the display when an operator needs to capture a value. It is a straightforward, highly legible reference display for edit suites, machine rooms, and studio walls that run on SMPTE or EBU timecode.
