ESE ES-289E Time Code Based NTP Time Server
A plant already has one authoritative time reference: the master clock feeding time code down the coax. The ES-289E takes that same code, on ESE or SMPTE/EBU at a BNC, and republishes it as NTP on a 10/100 Base-T port, so every server, router, playout box and workstation on the network sets itself from the clock the operators are already watching rather than from something on the far side of a firewall. A second BNC hands back regenerated TC90 time code, so the unit sits inline rather than terminating the run.
It answers IPv4 and IPv6 clients, and those clients can authenticate the server with MD5 or SHA1 symmetric keys, which is the part that matters when the time source is on a network you do not fully control. Setup and monitoring run through the embedded web server over HTTP or HTTPS, over telnet, or through SNMP V1, V2 and V3 with alert traps. A voltage-controlled temperature-compensated crystal oscillator holds the output steady if the incoming code drops, a front panel LED and a TTL output both report lock state, and the whole thing lives in a rugged black anodized desktop enclosure.
