DPA Microphones DPA MMC4006 Omnidirectional Pencil Microphone Capsule
The MMC4006 is the omnidirectional capsule at the heart of the 4006A - the pressure transducer that made DPA's reputation on classical and choral dates. It is flat rather than flattering: 10 Hz to 20 kHz with no engineered lift, so a room that sounds right in front of the mic sounds right on the recording.
It is a capsule only. Screw it onto an MMP-A, MMP-B or MMP-C preamp, or onto an MMP-E or MMP-G active cable, and you have a complete microphone; swap the preamp and the same capsule becomes a different tool. The APE acoustic pressure equalizer balls change the on-axis high-frequency response when the mic is used at a distance.
