DigiTech Whammy
The Whammy is the pitch-shifting treadle that gave dive bombs, octave leaps and harmony shifts to a generation of guitar records. Rock the expression pedal forward and the bend increases, rock it back and it releases; the selector knob chooses which Whammy, Harmony or Detune interval that treadle is driving, with harmony settings blending the dry signal back in and Whammy and Detune settings running wet.
This version adds a Classic/Chords switch. Classic runs the original algorithm, which tracks single notes and keeps the artifacts that made the effect recognisable; Chords runs the modern polyphonic algorithm from the Whammy DT, holding a full chord together through the bend. A MIDI input takes program changes to select a Whammy or Drop Tune effect and set it active or bypassed, and MIDI CC messages can drive the expression pedal position remotely. True bypass circuitry takes the pedal out of the path entirely when both effects are off.
