Datavideo DAC-45 4K Up/Down Cross Converter
The DAC-45 is a multi-format up, down, and cross converter that takes a VGA, HDMI, or HD/SD-SDI source and rescales it to a matched 4K HDMI and 3G-SDI output. A built-in super-resolution engine cleans up the picture as it scales, so material as low as 720x480 can be pushed all the way to Ultra HD 4K, and the unit switches automatically between 4K, HD, and SD as the incoming signal changes. That makes it the piece that lets an older SD or HD deck feed a modern 4K switcher or display without a black screen.
Alongside the video path, a pair of RCA jacks lets you embed unbalanced L/R analog audio into the SDI and HDMI output, and the 3G-SDI system accepts both Level A and Level B. A reference input keeps it locked to house sync. The DAC-45 is a half-rack unit that drops into a standard 19 inch rack using the optional RMK-1 rack kit, so a pair of converters can share one rack space.
