Audio-Technica ATM350U Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone with Universal Mount
The ATM350U is the universal-mount configuration of Audio-Technica's ATM350a miniature cardioid condenser, the clip-on element used on brass, strings, piano and drums where a stand will not fit or will be in the player's way. The capsule is small enough to disappear on camera and close enough to the instrument that stage bleed stops being the limiting factor on gain.
It runs on 11- 52V DC, 3.5 mA typical through the supplied AT8543 power module and takes 159 dB SPL, 1 kHz at 1% T.H.D before distortion, which is what makes it usable on a snare or a trumpet bell rather than only on quiet sources. The universal clip-on mounting system in the box adapts the same mic to a range of instruments, so one inventory item covers several sections.
