Audio-Technica ATM510 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone
The ATM510 is a handheld cardioid dynamic for lead and backing vocals, built around a tailored midrange rise that pushes a voice through a band rather than leaving it buried under guitars. The cardioid pattern gives useful rejection at the rear, which is where the wedge usually is, so a vocalist can work the mic hard before the monitor rings.
Response runs 90-16,000 Hz and sensitivity is -55 dB (1.7 mV) re 1V at 1 Pa, a normal handheld-dynamic figure that any mixer preamp drives comfortably. An internal shock mount cuts the handling noise that comes with a mic being passed around a stage, and output is on an Integral 3-pin XLRM-type. It ships with the AT8470 Quiet-Flex stand clamp and a soft protective pouch.
