The ATH-R30x is the entry point into Audio-Technica's R-Series open-back reference line, built for home studios and emerging engineers who want an accurate, non-fatiguing monitor for mixing and editing. The open-back design lets sound flow directly off the 40mm drivers with very little additional tuning or damping, so the headphone reproduces what the driver is actually doing rather than shaping it.

That open construction gives the ATH-R30x a wide, detailed soundstage closer to a pair of studio monitors than a typical sealed headphone, useful for judging stereo width and depth. An adjustable headband and soft velour earpads keep the 210g headphone comfortable through long sessions, and it ships with a 6.3mm (1/4-inch) adapter for interface and console outputs.
