Audio-Technica AT4050
The AT4050 is a large-diaphragm multi-pattern studio condenser that has become a genuine studio standard. A switch selects cardioid, omnidirectional, or figure-of-eight, so it captures every nuance across vocals, drums, room, and stereo techniques. Dual large diaphragms and transformerless electronics give it a remarkable combination of detail, low noise, and high headroom.
It handles up to 149 dB SPL, with a 10 dB pad extending that to 159 dB for the loudest sources. A switchable high-pass filter helps manage low-end buildup in close placement. It runs on 48V phantom power over a 3-pin XLR output and remains a first call for engineers who want one mic that does almost everything well.
