Universal Audio Volt 176 USB Audio Interface
The Volt 176 is a bus-powered USB-C interface with UA's Vintage mic preamp mode, a switchable circuit that adds the tube-style harmonic weight of the 610 console preamp to whatever you put in front of it. Conversion runs at 24-bit / 192 kHz, and the mic input measures 20 Hz - 20 kHz within a tenth of a dB with 55 dB of gain on tap.
What separates the 176 from the Volt 1 is the analog compressor built into the input path, a 76-style FET circuit with three fixed presets: VOC at 2 ms attack and 300 ms release, GTR at 1.5 ms and 700 ms, and FAST at 30 us and 35 ms, all at a 6:1 ratio. It is committed to the recording rather than a plug-in, which is the point, and it can be switched out entirely.
