Sontronics APOLLO 2 Active Stereo Ribbon Microphone

APOLLO 2 puts two hand-tuned ribbon motors in one body, set at right angles in Blumlein X-Y. That geometry is fixed, aligned and coincident at the factory, which removes the part of stereo ribbon work that usually goes wrong: two mics on a bar, never quite in the same place, never quite matched. What you get instead is a coherent image with no phase argument between the channels, and rear pickup that captures the room as part of the picture rather than as spill.

The motors are active and phantom powered at 48 V, giving 24 mV/Pa with impedance under 150 Ohms and a 125 dB ceiling. Response runs 20 Hz to 15 kHz. A single 6-pin connector on the mic breaks out to two 3-pin XLRs on the supplied cable, so it lands on any pair of preamp inputs. Use it over an orchestra, a choir or a drum kit, or in mono on a solo instrument. It ships in an ABS flight case with the shock mount and cable.
