Softron OnTheAir Video Express 4 Playout Software
OnTheAir Video Express 4 is the entry point into Softron's playout line: drag a playlist together and it plays, with none of the scheduling and automation layer that the full OnTheAir Video carries. It still mixes codecs, formats, and frame rates within a single playlist, resizes mismatched sources with Fill, Letterbox, Pan and Scan, or Natural modes, and supports 8-bit and 10-bit HDR in HLG or PQ. Output runs over SDI, HDMI, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, or straight to RTMP, and the Multi version scales to eight simultaneous HD channels on one Mac.
Source support covers Apple ProRes, AVC-Intra, Avid DNxHD, H.264, HEVC, and XDCAM in .mov, MXF, M2T, or M4V files, plus still images and audio. Closed captioning in CEA-608 and CEA-708 is built into the base license, unlike the option-gated captioning on the full OnTheAir Video. Video hardware includes AJA, Blackmagic Design, and Deltacast devices, with Macnica supported on Apple silicon systems. Licensing is one permanent license per output channel, with no recurring fees, and a dongle option that holds up to 20 licenses for larger installs.
