Softron OnTheAir Video 4 Automated Playout Software
OnTheAir Video 4 is Softron's automated playout application for macOS, built around a playlist that can mix codecs, wrappers, resolutions, and frame rates without extra conversion passes. It drives SDI and HDMI output through AJA, Blackmagic Design, or Deltacast hardware, plus SMPTE ST 2110 and NDI High Bandwidth, and it can push a stream directly to RTMP destinations like YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch. HLG and PQ HDR playout are supported alongside standard SDR, so one channel can serve both a broadcast feed and a streaming output from the same schedule.
Beyond straight playback, OnTheAir Video 4 handles the scheduling side of a channel: an automated scheduler, SCTE-35 and SCTE-104 insertion, MOS newsroom integration, and traffic system links to WideOrbit and ProTrack. Licensing is one seat per output channel, with a dongle available that holds up to 20 licenses for multichannel installs. Closed captioning (CEA-608, CEA-708, and OP47 subtitles) ships as a paid add-on rather than a base feature, along with options like Dynamic Graphics Overlay and a browser-based Remote Pack.
