Pliant Technologies Tempest Headset PHS-SB100-U

The PHS-SB100-U is the single-ear SmartBoom PRO from Pliant shipped without a connector on the end of its cable. The headset is the same one the terminated models use: a cardioid dynamic microphone voiced for speech that turns its back on off-axis noise, a flexible ambidextrous boom that swivels to either side, and soft foam padding under an adjustable headband for operators who wear it through a whole show. The boom doubles as the mute - lift it and the mic is off, lower it and you are live - so muting never means fumbling for a switch. One ear stays open to the room, which is the point of the single-ear design.

The unterminated cable is for the systems that do not use a standard XLR headset jack. Solder on the connector the beltpack, panel, or wireless pack actually takes, and the same 5 ft removable lead swaps out in the field if it gets damaged. Because the cable detaches at the earcup, one headset can be re-terminated for a different fleet later instead of being retired.
