The WS-883 records real stereo, not a mono capsule doubled: two low-noise directional microphones set at 90 degrees, which gives usable width on a meeting table or a lecture theatre rather than a flat centre image. Linear PCM is available when the recording is going to be edited, MP3 when it is going to be filed.

8GB internal plus microSD to 32GB covers weeks of material, and Intelligent Auto Mode rides microphone sensitivity so a quiet questioner and a loud presenter both land on the meter.
