MOTU 8D AES3 and S/PDIF USB and AVB-TSN Audio Interface with DSP Mixing
The 8D is a digital format hub. It provides four channels of professional AES3 (AES/EBU) I/O and four channels of S/PDIF I/O, with sample rate conversion on all inputs, so clocking mismatches between a playback deck, a broadcast feed and a console stop being a problem to solve on paper. Any input can be routed to any output or split across several, and any format converts to any other: AES3, S/PDIF, AVB-TSN and USB.
The host connects over class-compliant USB 2.0, compatible with USB 3 and iOS, or over AVB/TSN Ethernet. MOTU's drivers deliver 1.70 ms round-trip latency on macOS and 1.71 ms on Windows at 96 kHz with a 32-sample buffer. The 48-input mixer adds 7 stereo aux busses, 3 groups, access to 64 network inputs, classic reverb, British-console-modeled EQ and compression, all controlled from a browser.
